What Is LinkedIn?

Basically LinkedIn is an online community and professional network that provides a fairly low-pressure way for people (including shy people) to find and connect with others with similar business interests. To help you find folks to connect with, you can do searches based on specific names, companies or areas of interest. You can also join LinkedIn Groups to help you connect and network more easily.

There are also interesting articles and discussions – as well as plenty of people trying to sell you their services. But I think there’s more than enough good there to make sidestepping some slippery sales pitches worth your time.

LinkedIn is a form of social media. (You can find it at LinkedIn.com.) According to their website, as of this posting “LinkedIn has over 70 million members in over 200 countries.”
