Recommendations Wanted: Resume Writer & Coach Resource List

by Ronnie Ann ~ December 7th, 2009 · 17 Comments ·

Hi! I need your help.

As a resource for readers who would like to hire a resume writer and/or coach, I’m compiling a list of resume and coaching resources for Work Coach Cafe. I’d especially like recommendations from folks who’ve had good success with these services. But I also welcome self-nominations. ;-)

As part of this blog’s career and job search services resource center (to be built), I’ll be listing resources along with some key identifying information, and soliciting feedback as well as new recommendations on an ongoing basis.  This way, when I get requests for help, I can at least offer readers some good options to choose from – ideally by region and service type.

So if you have any resume writers and/or coaches (career, executive, management, etc.) to recommend, please feel free to do so in a comment below. Include Name, Location, Contact Info, approximate Fee, and a sentence or two describing what they specialize in or something about them – as well as any personal experience you’ve had working with them. If you know whether they offer phone and/or in-person services, please include that too.

I’d like to know about uncomfortable or disappointing experiences as well as the good ones – keeping in mind of course that sometimes a service provider can be great with one person and not-so-great with others. You can also contact me by e-mail if you prefer. (My e-mail address can be found by clicking my About tab.)

Thanks for your help. As the list grows, I hope this will become a free career resource anyone can use…so please feel free to offer any advice, thoughts and of course recommendations for great career service providers.

Oh…and also feel free to pass this on! The more comprehensive this resource list is, the more people it can help.

~ Ronnie Ann

NOTE: Now that the resource page is up, I will only be posting listings submitted to ronnieann2007 at aol.com in this basic format. Thanks for your cooperation. It keeps me sane! ;-)

    Hi Ronnie Ann,

I have been enjoying your site and have found it very helpful in my job search. I am currently employed but am looking to make a change. I used the above service for my resume and Mr. Stone did a great job for me. I did not have alot of money to spend, but knew my resume needed reworking. He charges $40 for his resume service and also does cover letters. Thought I would forward since I had a good experience with him and is a great option for those of us that need an affordable service. Thanks for your posts and great articles, keep up the great work!

    Best regards,
    Janell

  • Ronnie Ann

  • Lisa Mauri Thomas

Two years ago, a friend of mine called me in a panic saying that she had hired a resume writing service. She had spent $600 for a resume that was returned to her with errors, but in .pdf format, and when she requested changes they gave her an “editing price sheet”. She was frantic as she needed to bring her resume to an informational interview scheduled for the next morning. I was stunned and offered my immediate assistance!

That evening, the concept for my company Change Your Job, Change Your Life was born. Expert, yet affordable advice based on my experience as a former HR Director, a hiring manager, a college career services director, and having earned a Master’s degree in Vocational Counseling. I know the competition well and can discuss how exactly my services compare to the pricier firms.

You should not have to pay dearly to succeed. You should be given clear information and feedback in which to formulate a strategic approach to your job search. You should understand what activities work best for your situation, and which do not, applying continuous quality improvement principles to your overall plan. And most of all, you should be able (and encouraged) to remain in control of your materials and search process at all times.

Wishing you and yours the very best in 2010.

  • Ronnie Ann

Thanks Lisa! Great story and good advice. I wish you much luck.
