Oh no! I'm so sorry. But I'm GLAD you were their top choice, TEB.

You can help by keeping in touch. Maybe in June send them a quick note telling them you're still interested and to please keep you in mind when the freeze is lifted. Then follow up again in July.

Sometimes these things change even before they think possible. Of course, sometimes it goes the other way. Hope in your case it will be good news sooner rather than later!

PLEASE let us know. I am hopeful for you. :)

Good luck TEB!

Thanks! Unfortunately, what happened was that they recommended me for hiring... and then they announced a hiring freeze! Since the US Dollar tanked during the year, their budgets were all off, and they can't hire until August. Hopefully I'll still be at the top of their list then-- I really wanted that spot.

Hi TEB!

How frustrating that must be for you!

At this point, I just want you to know it would be ok to give them a polite call and say you are still very interested and just want to make sure they have everything they need from you at this point. That would help you feel less powerless. At least you'll have made your best effort and can go into the weekend knowing that.

It all sounds very hopeful. Please let us know how it turns out. :)

Good luck!

Ugh, I'm having a similar issue. I had an interview at the end of *February*. It went really well, and then I left the country for a few weeks for work. When I came back, they had just (the day before) sent me an email asking for my references. (April 1 or so). I sent them back immediately, no response. On Monday, they sent me an email saying "Are you still interested? We're very interested, sorry for the wait, we've been out of the country". (Yeah, it is an international field.) It's Friday now, and I'm still hanging. ARRRRGH!
