“Help Annoy My Boss”

by Ronnie Ann ~ August 10th, 2007 · 5 Comments ·

I just found “help annoy my boss” among the search terms used to get to my Work Coach blog. Although you all know I usually do my best to be helpful, I have to respectfully decline. No. I won’t help you annoy your boss. And not to sound too judgmental, but:

Jeez Louise, guy! What the hell are you thinking? Don’t waste your time!

Focus instead on things that build you up and not ways to put other people down. I know it sounds corny, but annoying your boss is just a cruel (although I know momentarily satisfying) amusement that won’t get you anywhere in the long run.

Even if your boss drives you really really crazy (and you can find posts on this blog dealing with workplace tips, by the way) you’ll only feel better for a moment or two – ok…or three or four. But you’ll just be wasting good energy you could instead apply to someone more worthy of your focus: Yourself!

Instead of plotting and planning ways to drive your boss crazy, use your creativity and energy to look for another job or to build relationships or satisfying niches at your current job or even to go back to school for something you always dreamed of doing. Now that’s a great use of your time and energy!

If you focus on building yourself up, you won’t feel the need to tear your boss down. Not that it isn’t something we’re all tempted to do now and then.  (-;

    This is such sound advice! It’s been my experience that most bosses are smart enough to know when a worker is trying to annoy them anyway, so why bother.

    If you focus on yourself and build your assets, you will feel so much better. It sounds corny, but I’ve learned that it is so true!

    Thanks for the lovely comment, Mimi. I know you speak from experience. I’m sure it wasn’t any of your employees Googling those words! (-;

    Hmmm. I never thought of that!

    The thing is, he was annoying his boss by spending work time googling how to annoy the boss!

    Talk about multitasking. . . . .

    LOL! Thanks for the chuckle, Working Girl. You have a very cool site, by the way. Good stuff. Enjoyed my visit and am adding you to my blogroll, if you don’t mind. (-;
